Larry's lessons pile up! Hit PLAY!
Larry called our Dad 'Kenneth', sometimes in his army letters home. Regardless of the missing blood relationship, be assured that he loved Kenneth like his own father. With only 13 years between them, the two men were closer in age than my brother and I. Daddy was another man who was easy to love and those two were tight. Together, they represented the silent strength of our family.
It seems that my brother stayed busy learning a few lessons in Fort Rucker. He was working harder at schoolwork than ever before, and drinking more than he could afford. At the same time, he shared optimism about his future for the first time and mentioned Vietnam as if it were a foregone conclusion.
Larry was growing smarter.
